Our workshop

Every ComfortCrest bed is cut, sprung, upholstered and finished by the same small team, in the same workshop, for one order at a time.

We are a small team who make beds to order, one at a time, rather than a warehouse that ships them from a shelf.

That is a slower way to run a bed company and a more expensive one. It is also the only way to let someone choose the fabric, build the frame properly out of solid timber, and put a ten-year guarantee on it without flinching.

How it is made

Two weeks of work, and a bed that outlasts the room

Nothing here is flat-packed in a factory and shipped from a warehouse. That is why we can guarantee the frame for ten years — and why we are happy to tell you exactly what is inside it.

  1. The frame

Kiln-dried hardwood, corner-blocked and screwed rather than stapled. It is the part nobody sees, and the reason the bed does not creak in year three.

  2. The base

Sprung slats on flexible beech, not a flat board. They take the load off the mattress and add years to it.

  3. The upholstery

High-density foam over the frame, then fabric cut, pinned and hand-finished on the piece itself. Every seam is pulled true by hand.

  4. The finish

Legs turned and stained to match, fixings bagged and labelled, and the whole bed checked over by the person who made it before it is wrapped.
