Our workshop
How our beds are made
Every ComfortCrest bed is cut, sprung, upholstered and finished by the same small team, in the same workshop, for one order at a time.
The parts of a bed that decide whether it lasts are all invisible once it is upholstered. Here is what goes into ours, so you can compare it against anything else you are looking at.
Frames are kiln-dried hardwood, corner-blocked and screwed rather than stapled. Bases are sprung beech slats rather than a flat board, which takes load off the mattress and extends its life. Upholstery is high-density foam, with the fabric cut, pinned and finished by hand on the piece itself.
How it is made
Two weeks of work, and a bed that outlasts the room
Nothing here is flat-packed in a factory and shipped from a warehouse. That is why we can guarantee the frame for ten years — and why we are happy to tell you exactly what is inside it.
-
The frame
Kiln-dried hardwood, corner-blocked and screwed rather than stapled. It is the part nobody sees, and the reason the bed does not creak in year three.
-
The base
Sprung slats on flexible beech, not a flat board. They take the load off the mattress and add years to it.
-
The upholstery
High-density foam over the frame, then fabric cut, pinned and hand-finished on the piece itself. Every seam is pulled true by hand.
-
The finish
Legs turned and stained to match, fixings bagged and labelled, and the whole bed checked over by the person who made it before it is wrapped.
